Abstract

Background: Caries has high prevalence number in Indonesia. It needs some preventing effort in order to decrease the number of caries prevalence. S.mutans is the most bacteria can caused caries. Nowadays, there are many experiments that related to caries and use animal as the objects. To use rat as rat caries model there are three aspects that must be attentioned. One of the aspects is timing to infect rat. Purpose : To know adhrence of S.mutans on Wistar’s teeth surface age 2-3 months old and Wistar age 2-3 months old can be used as rat caries model. Method : Seven Wistar 2-3 months old gived antibotics for three days, and then S.mutans 10 9 CFU/ ml, 1 ml spread on their oral cavity for three days. Plaque was taken in days 1,4, 3 weeks after induction of S.mutans to observe in microscopist and macroscopist. Result: The bacteria that found in day 1,4, and 3 week after induction of S.mutans suspect isn’t S.mutans. Conclusion: There are no adhrence of S.mutans on Wistar’s teeth surface age 2-3 months old as a rat caries model after spread by S.mutans.
