Abstract

Background. longan fruit’s seeds and peel contains gallic acid, elagat acids, flavonoids, saponins and corilagin useful as antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, which can be developed as an materials in Dentistry. The use of materials in Dentistry must meet the requirements, such as, not toxic, Purpose. The purpose of this study is to find out citotoxicity of extract seed and peel longan fruit (Euphoria Longana Lam.) on fibroblast cells. Method. Concentration of extract seed of longan fruit that will be used 0,2 %, 0,4 %, 0,8 %, 3,2 %, 6,25 % and concentration of extract longan fruit’s peel that will be used 0,1 %, 0,2 %, 0,4 %, 0,8 %, 6,25 %. Cytotoxicity test by MTT assay into fibroblast cells culture BHK-21, and read by ELISA reader. Result. Extract seed and peel of longan fruit (Euphoria Longana Lam.) showed that the increasing concentration of extract seed and peel longan fruit (Euphoria Longana Lam.) will increasing living cells of fibroblast cells culture BHK-21.Conclusion. Concentration of extract seed of longan fruit 0,2 %, 0,4 %, 0,8 %, 3,2 %, 6,25 % and concentration of extract peel of longan fruit 0,1 %, 0,2 %, 0,4 %, 0,8 %, 6,25 % were not toxic
