Abstract
Background: The size and shape of the teeth and jaw highly variable in humans. The length and width of the curved teeth classified to the arch dimensions are width interkaninus, intermolar width, length and perimeter curved teeth. The length and width of the curved teeth are very influential in the pattern of malocclusion caused by various factors among genetic, environmental, bone development. In malocclusion can be calculated by using the PAR index so that it is known the severity of malocclusion. Purpose: To describethe length and width of curved teeth the severity of malocclusionin children aged 9-12 years in the population of Java in SDN Mulyorejo District of Surabaya. Method: In this study using 60 models of the teeth in children aged 9-12 years who have a Javanese ethnic 2 generation of the above in SDN Mulyorejo District of Surabaya. The arch length were measured from the distance between the midpoint of the incisal edges of the bilateral central and lateral incisor and a line connecting the bilateral first molar buccal cusp. The arch widht was determine by intermolar widht and intercanine widht. Intermolar widht were measure from the distance between bilateral mesiobuccal cusp of the first molar. The intercanine widht were measure from the distance between cusp tip of canine, all measure in maxilla and mandible. Result: The length and width arch obtained the largest teeth in the lower jaw leng this 0.987 and maxillary width intercaninus is 0.94. The severity of malocclusion by calculating the index remains high PAR obtained on mild malocclusion 61.7% and molar relationship on neutroklusi 80%. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the length and width of the curved teeth the severity of malocclusion with PAR index calculation.
