Abstract

High accurate level of impression materials needed in fixed denture fabrication which usually have mucocompression characteristic easier to carry saliva, blood, and oral cavity microorganism when molding the patient’s teeth. Therefore disinfection toward molding materials needed for lower the spreading of diseases. The spraying method of disinfection have lower alteration risk of polyether dimension than the submerged method. The effective and efficient disinfectant for polyether disinfection needed to know. Purpose. To study the effiency of spraying polyether molding with chlorhexidine solution against oral cavity microorganism development. Material and method. The study conducted with mold the patient’s upper molar regio using polyether molding materials then rinsed with sterile water. The mold cutted using 1 cm aluminium ring on the regio molar part then divided to four section. Afterwards, the cutted section sprayed 10 times each 15 second with 1%, 2%, and 4% chlorhexidine solution respectively. After 10 minutes, each section planted in BHI solution, then moved to blood agar and incubated for 24 hours. The result tested with One Way ANOVA and Tukey significant test. The mean result oral cavity microorganism development on blood agar are 43.57 (control group), 22.14 (P1 group), 16.29 (P2 group), and 8.14 (P3 group) respectively. Conclusion. Significant difference result obtained between the 1%, 2% and 4% chlorhexidine solution. The most effective showed at 4% concentration of chlorhexidine, but at 2% concentration displayed effective disinfectant effect. Thus at 2% chlorhexidine can be used efficiently.
