Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine Histomoniasis prevalence of domestic chicken that slaughtered at traditional markets in Surabaya city through the changed of liver histopathol-ogical. Fifty five samples of domestic chicken were randomly collected from traditional markets in Surabaya city, which placed at three different area, that were South, East and North Surabaya respectively, the samples were taken by randomized of each area. The diskriptif observation applied as research design with purposive sampling taking over. The result of research showed that Histomoniasis prevalence in Surabaya traditional markets is 32,7% (South Surabaya 45,5%, East Surabaya 35,3% and North Surabaya 12,5%) and that result showed significant difference (p < 0,05) between two area in South Surabaya (45,5%) and North Surabaya (12,5%). Histopathological result show 18 sample from 55 sample (32,7%) that was positif in Histomoniasis show the liver change that are: nekrosis at 1" zone about 27,8%, nekrosis at 3th zone about 5,6%, infiltration of inflamed cell at 1" zone about 100%, infiltration of inflamed cell at 3th zone about 83,3%, cell disintegration/ disosiation about 100%, the position of Histomoraas tropozoit at 1St zone about 38,9%, at 2nd zone about 61,1% and 3th about 16,7%.
