Abstract
This study evaluated the increase in hatchability of eggs that had been illuminated with different length of time to ultraviolet radiation. The parameter observed in this study was the hatchability of eggs produced from some of the long treatment time of irradiation. Hatchability was calculated by comparing the number of eggs that hatched with the number of fertile eggs and expressed in percent. Before entering the incubator, eggs were treated with ultraviolet radiation. Eggs exposed to ultraviolet radiation with different length of time; 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 45 minutes. The function of ultraviolet radiation is preventing bacterial contamination that can lead to reduction in hatchability. The results showed there was a significant increase (P<0.05) in the hatchability of eggs when compared with control (P0).
