Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of addition seminal plasma of simmental cattle semen on spermatozoa plasma membrane integrity and necrotic spermatozoa of fat thailed sheep after equilibration freezing process. This study used semen from healthy sheep with good quality. Each sample was divided into three group of treatments ; (P0) fat tailed sheep semen mixed with diluter tris-aminomethane only, (P1) 1 part of fat tailed sheep semen mixed with diluter tris-aminomethane : 1 part of seminal plasma of simmental cattle semen and (P2) 1 part of fat tailed sheep semen mixed with diluter tris-aminomethane : 2 part of seminal plasma of simmental cattle semen. All of treatments were processed in freezing process for equilibration for 1 hour then followed by evaluation of spermatozoa plasma membrane integrity and necrotic spermatozoa. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and continued by Duncan test. The result showed that addition of seminal plasma of simmental cattle semen on fat thailed sheep sperm after equilibration can improve sspermatozoa plasma membrane integrity and necrotic spermatozoa , there were significant differencest (P<0.05). The mean and deviation results of P1 showed the highest rate in maintaining sspermatozoa plasma membrane integrity and necrotic spermatozoa among all of treatments, which were 60,98 ± 4,32 and 6,50 ± 1,76 respectively. It can be concluded that addition of seminal plasma of simmental cattle semen with a ratio of 1 part of fat tailed sheep semen mixed with diluter tris-aminomethane : 1 part of seminal plasma of simmental cattle semen is effective in maintaining spermatozoa plasma membrane integrity and necrotic spermatozoa of fat tailed sheep after equilibration in freezing process.
