Abstract

The aims of this study were to know the prevalence of ectoparasite Trichodina sp. infection on catfish aquaculture, knew determine the number of Trichodina sp. infection in three places of aquaculture and knew determine the number of Trichodina sp. infection which infected skins and gills. This study was conducted on July 2011 in Ngabetan Village, Cerme – Gresik. This study used 120 samples consisted of 1 mounth old. The methods were used in this research were skin and gill scrapping. The data were analyzed using chi square test with SPSS program version 18.0 for windows. The result showed that prevalence of Trichodina sp. in Ngabetan village, Cerme – Gresik 56.7%. The highest infection was in the aquaculture C compared with the aquaculture A and aquaculture B with percentage of 31.7%, 20.8% and 4.2% respectively. The gill infection had higher prevalence compared with the skin infection with the percentage of 25% and 17.1% respectively. The conclusion of this study was difference of Trichodina sp. infection in three places of aquaculture depend on temperature, source of water and population.
