Abstract

The purposes of this research are to detect the effect of jarong (Achyranthes aspera L.) leave’s alkaloid fraction on leucocytes count and differential count of male mice (Mus musculus) were infected by M. tuberculosis. The research took 20 mice with average weight 20 grams that were divided in to four treatment groups. All of groups were infected by M. tuberculosis. Those treatments were: (1) P0, that in this treatment CMC Na 0.5% were given; (2) P1, that in this treatment alkaloid 60 mg/mice/day were given; (3) P2, that in this treatment alkaloid 120 mg/mice/day were given; and (4) P3, that in this treatment alkaloid 180 mg/mice/day were given during 1 month orally. This research showed that jarong leave’s alkaloid fraction affects the increasing of leucocytes count and variant. As the result, alkaloid 60 mg/mice can increase the leucocytes count and variant of mice were infected M. tuberculosis. It could be concluded that jarong leave’s alkaloid fraction is an immunomodulator.
