Abstract

This research was conducted to determine bursa of Fabricius weight, bursa of Fabricius lymphoid follicle diameter and number in broiler chickens chronically exposed to heat stress and vaccinated for Newcastle disease (ND). Heat stress was given as temperature of 35-35,5 ºC 8 hours/daily for 4 weeks. Two weeks after the start heat stress treatment broiler were vaccinated ND. Experimental animals used in this study were 24 Cobb strain (broiler) DOC which were divided randomly into four groups, namely P0 (without heat stress treatment, without vaccination), P1 (with heat stress treatment, without vaccination), P2 (without heat stress treatment, with vaccination), P3 (with heat stress treatment, with vaccination). On week-7, bursa of Fabricius were collected and processed for histopatological preparation and speciments were examined under a light microscope. Results showed decreases in bursa of Fabricius weight, bursa of Fabricius lymphoid follicle diameter and number.
