Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the effects of Achyranthes aspera Linn on histopathology scoring of mice with mammary cancer. This study use 20 mices at the age of 2 months that were divided into 4 groups. Each group were given B(a)P subcutaneous injection to induce mammary cancer for 2 months. Injection of B(a)P was given twice a week, than every group were given different treatment. P0 was given suspension (CMC Na) without alkaloid, P1, P2, and P3, were given suspensions by varying the dose of Achyranthes aspera Linn alkaloid (60 mg/kg bw, 120 mg/kg bw, and 180 mg/kg bw). Experimental animals were treated for 2 months. All treatments were given by oral everyday during 2 months. Mice were being euthanased. Than mice mammae tissue sample were collected and stained with HE staining. Histopathology scoring were scored under light microscope. The result of this study indicate that alkaloid of Achyranthes aspera Linn had significant effect of histopathology scoring on some group. Statistical analysis showed that alkaloid of Jarong leaves gives the best effect of reduce histopathology of mammary cancer score at the dose 60 mg/kg bw.
