Abstract
This study was aimed to determine the antibiotic susceptibility of S. aureus isolated from chicken meat. The research used a purposive sampling method. Thirty two samples were cultured on Mannitol Salt Agar and identified for S. aureus. Eleven antibiotics disces were used for susceptibility test by agar diffusion according to Kirby-Bauer method. The result of the study showed that 9 (28,1 %) samples were S. aureus. Four isolates (100%) from wet markets were susceptible to all antibiotics used in the study. All of five (100%) isolates from supermarkets were susceptible to nine antibiotics only, which were Teicoplanin, Erythromycin, Clindamycin, Linezolid, Cefoxitin, Ciprofloxacin, Gentamicin, Trimethoprin-sulfamethoxazole, Chloramphenicol, but resistant to Oxytetracycline as well as Tetracycline.
