Abstract

The aim of this study is to detect the antibody of A/H5 Avian Influenza (AI) virus in egg yolk from consumption eggs sold in traditional markets in Surabaya. Total of 300 eggs were collected from 15 markets of five districts in Surabaya using Stratified Random Sampling method and were examined by Haemaglutination Inhibition test. The result showed that there were significantly different (p<0,05) among the five districts in Surabaya, North Surabaya was a district with the highest AI A/H5 antibody titer and Central Surabaya was the lowest. The variable of egg type showed that antibody titer against AI A/H5 of kampong chicken egg yolk was higher then domestic (p<0,01). The combination of district and type of egg was significantly different (p<0,01). The AI A/H5 antibody titer of kampong chicken egg yolk from North Surabaya and domestic from West Surabaya were the highest.
