Abstract

The purpose of this research is to provide information on the effectivity of betle leaf (Piper betle L) as alternative treatment of coccidiosis in the chicken. The research uses 24 chicken in age of 21 days, each chicken is infected with 5000 oocyst orally. Twentyfour hours after infected the chicken, they are treated with betle leaf in the form of powdered preparation at 51,2 mg for P1; 101,7 mg for P2 and 152,6 mg for P3. Data on the treatment and histopathological delianeation are tabulated and then analysed using Kruskal Wallis test. When there is a significant difference, the test will be proceeded with Mann-Whitney test to find out diffences between treatment. The results show significant difference in each treatment (P < 0,05), indicating different therapeutic effect of 20,6 mg, 101,7 mg and 152,2 mg dosages.
