Abstract

Mother and Child Health (MCH) program is one of Public Health Center's (PHC) high priority core programs taking into consideration that pregnant mothers, breast-feeding, babies and children are very delicate groups. In nurturing this delicate groups, PHC has many activities among others is adequate Ante Natal Care (ANC). Unfortunately, in 2006 the low visitation of KI of poor pregnant mothers is as many as 20.69% of total pregnant mothers in Surabaya Pacarkeling PHC which is an imminent problem. For that reason, this study aims at analyzing influencing factors affecting the low K 1 visitation of poor pregnant mothers at Pacarkeling PHC. The design of this study is observational analytical descriptively done in cross sectional. Population of this study is all pregnant mothers and breast-feeding mothers belonged to poor families inside the working area of Pacarkeling PHc. The 165 samples were taken through a simple random sampling method. AIDA (attention, interest, desire and action) was used to disclose respondent's perception towards promotion done by PHC. The research result showed a factor influencing the low Kl visitation was respondent's characteristic (trust and perception) and from AIDA process, the influencing factors were attention, interest and desire. Besides, the research described between respondents who visited PHC and who did not visit PHC, both had similar attention, interest, social and cultural characteristics, but they had different desire, demographic characteristic, economic and psychological conditions. As an effort to improve Kl visitation at Pacarkeling PHC, the mix promotion at the PHC should be enhanced by making leaflets, posting clear direction sign board, implementing persuading activities, strengthening inter¬sector work cooperation, holding routine Neighborhood Association meetings and personal selling should be informative pertaining to place, people, product, and physical facilities.
