Abstract

Worm disease was an infectious disease that was ignored by current society. Poor application of food hygiene sanitation and personal hygiene can be a factor worm disease transmission. This study aims to determine the relationship of food hygiene sanitation and personal hygiene with worm disease incident in islamic boarding school. This study was an observational study with cross-sectional design. Laboratory testing and filling questionnaire conducted on 71 students and 2 food handlers in islamic boarding school. Sampling techniques used simple random sampling. Laboratory tests to identificate the worm status and questionnaire to identificate respondents characteristics and personal hygiene. Worm disease incident in islamic boarding school was found 2 students with percentage 2.8% positive. Testing the relationship used chi-square test showed that there was no correlation between personal hygiene and food sanitation hygiene with worm incident in islamic boarding school. The p-value calculated for the relationship food hygiene sanitation with worm disease is p=0.067 more than α = 0.05, whereas relationship hygiene personal with worm disease was p = 0.181 more than α = 0.05. The conclusion of this study there was no association between personal hygiene and food hygiene sanitation with worm disease incident in islamic boarding school. Boarding school and students need to improve the implementation of food hygiene sanitation and personal hygiene.
