Abstract

Medical waste officers has high risk of occupational disease and accidents at work. The purpose of this research was to identify hazards, risk analysis, risk evaluation, as well as studying the control efforts on the management of medical waste in Lamongan Muhammadiyah Hospital. This research used a cross sectional study with descriptive analysis. Interviews and observations conducted at 6 medical waste management officers. The research variables are hazards identification, risk assesment, and control efforts on the hospital's medical waste management. The risk analysis was found consequences level was categorized disaster there are like fire and exploded. Meanwhile for the hazard with exposure level was catagorized with high frequency at day there are puncture wound, dust, noise hazard, moisture, temperature, and ergonimics hazard. The result of analysis showed that hazard with likelihood level was catagorized almost certain there are inhale the air with dioxyn characteristic, door impactned, and sit position was not ergonomic. A very high risk that founded from risk evaluation there are contact risk with medical waste and the risk of inhaled the air with dioxyn characteristic. The effort control by the hospital to the hazard there are controled by engineering, administrative, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The effort by medical waste officers to reduce the risk is used personal protective equipment. The hospital is expected to provide clothes coverall for medical waste officers.
