Abstract

Food security is one of important aspects to support the achievement the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Reduction of hunger among the population mainly who life below the national poverty line is needed therefore can reach the resilience of good food. Efforts are required to increase revenue and the problem of food insecurity in urban namely with urban farming program. The purpose of this research is to analyze the differences of consumption patterns, coping strategy and household food security status among two groups of urban farming. The research is an observational analytic research with cross sectioanal design. The sample size was 62, which was devided into two groups : urban farming agriculture and urban farming fisheries. Households were taken randomly using simple random sampling technigue. Data were collected though interview using structured questioneire. Food security status was measured by using US-HFSSM. The research results showed there was difference of consumption pattern among households that participated in urban farming agriculture and households that participated in urban farming fisheries (p=0,015). Coping strategy was signifikanly different (p=0,021) but there was no signifikan difference of household food security status between households that participated in urban farming agriculture and households that participated in urban farming fisheries (p=0,255). This study conclude that there were differences in consumption partterns and coping strategy between households participand in urban farming agriculture and urban farming fisheries. Further research shold to collect data on the same harvestsesons between the two groups, in order to get better pietre of household food security if both groups are at similiar situation
