Abstract

The Data of Riskesdas in 2013 was showed that the prevalence of hypertension population of the > 18 years old in East Java as many as 26.2%, the prevalence of the 55-64 years old is 45.9%, 65-74 years old is 57.6%, > 75 years old is 63.8 %. Based on previous survey in Surabaya Bulak Banteng Health Center, data taken during the 12 months in 2014 as much as 657 elderly hypertensive patients, where the prevalence of hypertension, 337 patients 55-64 years old, while the > 65 years old as many as 320 patients. So that the study was conducted at the health center Bulak Banteng Surabaya elderly who have experienced a decline in physiological and psychological functions as well as having a chronic illness need the support and assistance from others. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship with the family support quality of life of elderly patients with hypertension. The design study is observational analytic design using cross sectional method, with simple random sampling approach to analyze the relationship between family support and quality of life of elderly patients with hypertension in the PHC Bulak Banteng Surabaya. This data was obtained by means of the distribution of questionnaires to respondents with a total sample of 97. The results of analysis Chi - Square test showed significant value the relationship between family support and quality of life of elderly patients with hypertension 0,001 and RP = 1,85, the relationship of emotional support with a quality of life equal to 0,001 and RP = 1,93, the relationship support award to the quality of life of 0.001 and RP = 1,93, the relationship of support informational quality of life for 0,027 and RP = 1,99, the relationship instrumental support to the quality of life of 0,027 and RP = 2,17 and each domain in getting value ῤ value <ᾳ , where ᾳ = 0.05, so H1 accepted meaning there is a relationship between family support and quality of life of elderly patients with hypertension in the PHC Bulak Banteng Surabaya. Based on the data, it is expected for a health care workers to provide sufficient information to the family in accordance with what is needed by the family, so the family expected to give full support to a family member who suffered from health problems, especially the elderly with hypertension
