Abstract

There are many factors influencing blood pressure, for example work shift. Work shift or work rotation is time period of worker group whom is scheduled to work on certain place. There is also company which must operate for 24 hours a day. This study was conducted in PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. Surabaya on August 2014, the objective was to know correlation between work shift with blood pressure. This was descriptive study with cross sectional approach. Sample of this were total population (50 people who worked on morning shift and night shift) at Dupak toll gate PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. Surabaya. To determine correlation between work shift variable to the blood pressure variable, thus Linear Correlation test of Pearson was conducted, then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that any correlation between work shift with blood pressure. Correlation strength of work shift with blood pressure of respondent was analyzed using Linear Correlation test of Pearson. Coeffisient of Pearson (0,801) showed that any strong correlation between blood pressure after morning shift with blood pressure after night shift. Based on the result, the company should determine occupational health of the worker at Dupak toll gate through work shift schedule arrangement, meanwhile the worker who works on night shift should be given extra food and coffee consumption must be determined, thus blood pressure is not exceeded. It is recommended that rest time at least 30 minutes after working for 4 hours continuously. Also, health room by Occupational Health and Safety organizer, standard first aid box are needed.
