Abstract

Having more than 200 Million people, Indonesian 88% population covered by Muslims. This number influences the way people live. Islamic values applied in every day's life creating religious environment. As Islam become the important norm in Indonesian society, creates behavior patterns in their activities. Even though this country doesn't legitimate Islamic Laws, people are ruled by this religious principle consciously or unconsciously. This study focus on describing the work ethic based on Islamic values. Using triangulate Subjec, researcher tries to describe Islamic work ethic. Validating the study is very significant causing researcher to choose the Syariah Insurance Company as sampling population. Occupational Work Ethic Inventory by Hill and Petty (1997) was used to measure work ethic. Then, the researcher used modified Islamic Work Ethic Scale by Ali (1988) to enhance the correlation with Islamic values. The interpretation of those scales has becoming the principle to know more the real behavior of Islamic Work Ethic by using interview. This study results on how Islamic values applied actually in work activities. Islamic work ethic in PT. Asuransi Takaful Keluarga Surabaya reflects employees' comprehension about Islam and the way it rules daily activities.
