Abstract

This study aimed at finding how lexical styles express liberalism. In this study, the writer took the data from the booklet of 60th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, published by the United Nations Department of Public Information on November 2007. The writer analyzed the findings with the theory of Discourse Analysis. Based on the data analysis, the writer found that lexical styles used in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights express liberalism. They express liberalism because all findings have the substance, freedom which is the core of liberalism. They are used to emphasize that every individual have the freedom to pursue their interests and goals in their life.
