Abstract

Japan is known for having a lot of culture. One of this culture is the way Japanese people speak. Japanese people tend to avoid the straightforward way of speaking. They tend to make it vogue. This kind of culture often makes a foreigner that doesn’t familiar with this culture confuse. And so, in this research, which sample data taken from Shusuke Kaneko’s “Deathnote Movie : The First Name”, the way of Japanese people speak will be analyzed with Parker’s speech act theory, that will be concerned in literal and indirect speech act, and sociopragmatics theory. Those theory will be used to decribe what the real meaning of those utterances that japanese people say and what the implicature of those utterances.
