Abstract

This study focuses on the portrayal of lesbian sexual activities in the SepociKopi magazine through the text analysis. The aim of this study is to reveal how lesbians through language and discourse strategy present their sexual activities. Corpus was taken from rubric of Health and Sexuality. The data will be analyzed by using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) proposed by Van Dijk called socio cognitive approach. In order to discover how language elements are used as discourse strategies to deliver power and construct certain idea, there are three levels of text to be examined that are macrostructure level, superstructure level and microstructure level. The result of the study is that lesbian community uses the language as a mean to perform their identity. By using linguistic features such as detail, lexical choice, metaphor, referent, and coherence, they keep presenting the positive image. The researcher concludes that the SepociKopi magazine is created as one of the lesbian struggles to gain the admission and acceptance from the society.
