Abstract

Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide and 80% occur in developing country. Cancer experienced by the child would cause anxiety in the parents that will affect the ability of parents to care for children who are undergoing chemotherapy. This study was aimed to analyze the relation between anxiety level of parents with ability to care for children who suffer urogenital cancer in undergoing chemotherapy in the surgery herbra RSUD Dr. soetomo Surabaya.The study used a cross-sectional study design. The population of this study was parents of children who suffer from urogenital cancer undergoing chemotherapy in Surgery Herbra Surgery. The sample of this study was 15 respondents in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria . The independent variable in this study was the anxiety level of parents and the dependent variable was ability to care for children. Were Collected data by questionnaire and analyzed by Spearman rank test with significance α ≤ 0.05. Research results obtained from relation level anxiety of parents with ability to care for children was p = 0.001 and r = 0.785, it means there was the relation between level anxiety of parents with ability to care for children who suffer urogenital cancer in undergoing chemotherapy. Based on these results, the level of anxiety can affect parents in caring for children with urogenital cancer. Further research are expected to investigate or to study other factors that can affect the level of anxiety of parents who have children with chemotherapy.
