Abstract

Introduction.One of the problems that exist in Sunan Kalijaga Demak Hospital is the failure of the adequacy of exclusive breastfeeding can not be 100%. Mothers still give than breast milk to infants aged 1-3 days because they feel her breast milk does not enough for the baby. This situation affects the infant mortality rate increased due to malnutrition. The researchers will examine the effect of oxytocin massage to accelerate spending milk can not be described. Method. The study used qualitative method of pre-experiment and Post test with control group design. The study population were all postpartum mothers who gave birth on 24 December 2015 until 30 January 2016 at Melati room of Sunan Kalijaga Demak Hospital. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with 19 samples, the control group and the treatment group. Data processing using Mann Whitney U test with a significant p value ≤0,05. Results. The result showed that the three questions to showed accelerated of brestmilk ejection. The three questions are the breastmilk was ejected by the first suckle of her baby, the breastmilk was gushing out without squeezed the nipple, and the breastmilk still dripping after feeding. Mann Whitney U test results show the influence of oxytocin massage to accelerate the breastmilk ejection on the breastmilk was gushing out without squeezed the nipple with a value of p = 0,002. Discussion and conclusion. The results are showing the influence of oxytocin massage to accelerate of breastmilk ejection on the breastmilk was gushing out without squeezed the nipple. Subsequent implementation is expected to have further studies with a longer time so that oxytocin massage can be a complementary therapy to speed up the release of breast milk.
