Abstract

Introduction: The behavior of adolescent smoking is a dangerous phenomenon, which in terms of quantity, the number of smokers are increasingly, even at a young and age productive. The terms of the quality of the age of first smoking is also getting younger. Bahar in Jericho (2007), found that children who generally come from middle and upper class families got a better direction and guidance from their parents. While children with low economic backgrounds, are less able to obtain sufficient guidance and direction from their parents, because their parents more focused on how to meet daily needs, from where the economic conditions allegedly able to bring an influence on the incidence of smoking behavior. Objective: To analyze the environmental conditions of social and economic conditions for adolescent smoking behavior in District Pangarengan Sampang. Sample: The sampling technique was performed using Simple Random Sampling. Data analysis: The analysis conducted to find the relationship between the independent variables (sex, age, level of education, level of knowledge, attitudes, perceptions, behaviors parents/ family members, teachers, peers, an idol, culture, with the dependent variable (smoking behavior) was using statistical test used in this study is the correlation Chi square, logistic regression analysis to determine the dominant variables in the pattern of relationship between research variables. Result: The majority of respondents were female, aged 11-13 years with a high school education level are equal. All respondents who smoke sex male, educated junior and 14-15 years old and come from the economic conditions that are not capable of. Respondents smokers have family, peers, teachers, idols and culture (social environment) that supports smoking behavior. Peer support is factor the most influence on the formation of the smoking behavior of respondents. All respondents who smoke have the knowledge, perceptions and attitudes to danger and less smoking behavior.
