Abstract

HIV incidence rate in Indonesia was high in the recent five years. Nursing care in HIV patient was coping not only physical aspect, but also psychological aspect. Furthermore, the role of multi-discipliner health care provider was needed to overcome the complex problem of AIDS patient. Nurses have contribution in promotion, preventive, rehabilitative and curative aspects that form the quality of health care in AIDS patients. Therefore, study in observe factor that related with caring behavior in nurse is needed. Cross sectional study was held in RSUD Kediri with 33 respondents as sample which chosen by simple random sampling. Questionnaire was used as research instrument in data collecting. As a result of the study, there were four variables that significantly related with nurse caring behavior which are self efficacy (p-value=0.039), organizational structure (p-value=0.33), stigma (p-value=0.034), and self efficacy (p-value= 0.011). On the contrary, motivation and attitude were not significantly related to caring behavior (p-value= 0.221 and p-value= 0,417). High self efficacy of nurses are also influenced by knowledge, long work, employee status, stigma in performing their duties in conducting caring behavior in AIDS patients. To further increase the self efficacy of nurses in caring behavior, hospitals is expected will also provide intensive counseling to nurses, improve skills, provide sanctions if it does not perform the procedure of caring.
