Abstract
Abstract The title of the study is variations of member's political ideology of local legislative. This observation was conducted in two different locations; they were in local legislative of Kotabaru regency an in local legislative of Banjarmasin regency. The objective of the study is to know the tendency for liberalism and conservatism political ideology of legislative members and their position from Islamic and nationalist political parties in continuum ideology, to identify the meaning of reforms and local authority for legislative members, and to understand the expression forms of their political ideology from Islamic and Nationalistic political parties. Whilst the use of this study is as an input source for executives and legislatives, even for interested parties preceding the local reform process and also as and input source for advance studies in the same field. This study uses qualitative approach with combined methods between survey, case study, and ethnographical methods. This combined method is needed for subject data collection in the forms of polling, interviews, and participant observers. Unit analyses are individuals, they are legislative members. And the subjects of the study are the entire members of the legislative. . The results of the study show that there are variations in political ideology of legislative members. Such variations are the tendencies of legislative members to have liberalism political ideology and members from Islamic and Nationalist political parties tendencies to have liberalism and conservatism political ideology. In fact, those members give a sense of reforms and local authority as an opportunity to act changes which have no negative resultants for local interests. Accordingly, the variations of political ideology of legislative members from Islamic political and nationalist parties in the sense of Islamic continuum, and pragmatism behavior, are represented in the forms of symbolic, behavioral, and policies. The study suggests that it is better for those Islamic and Nationalist political parties to change the type of their political parties on the mass basis" to become offspring parties in order it is much easier to control the behaviors, and to maintain members' quality existing in local legislative. Last but not least, for the purpose of advance studies, which are the study of deeper understanding, it focuses on why those legislative members reproduce such variations of political ideology.
