Abstract

Aging process is a natural phenomenon occurring in each individual, needed a lot of the attentions like caring from family and govermant. a Human needs such as Biological needs, Safety needs, Attachment needs, Self Esteem needs, Cognitive needs, Esthetic needs, Actualisation needs and Transendence or Spiritual needs. The objective of study was to investigate the relation level of education and level of social economic factor with needs elderly�s in Hargo Dedali Hostels of Surabaya. This research design was Cross Sectional. Level of education and level of social economic of elderly were a independent variables. The dependent variable were Human needs in Hostels. Samples were chosen from social culture of java. Data were collected by questionnaire about Human needs in Hostels and then analysed by non parametric statistic using computer. The significant level of p<0,05. Result of these research shows that level of education had relations with transcendence needs only. Level of social economic had no relations with Human needs of elderly in Hostels. The dominant factor is level of education. It could be concluded that the level of education and social economic of the elderly in Hostels were low. Education level had relation with Human needs. It was recommended for family and Hostels to supply Human needs of elderly such as magazine or material for reading, relationship with family or other peoples and attention and make the condition of Hostels like at home.
