Abstract

This research that aimed to analyze the determinant factors that affect of abnormality on blood profile and Pb level in blood caused by Pb exposure. Determinants factors were age, height, weight, BMI, workload, working period, working time, the use of masks, work history, smoking behavior of polices and the number of cigarettes consumed. The research was conducted on Traffic Police in Balikpapan in April - July 2013. The approach in this research was observational with cross-sectional research design. The total population in this research was 379 with a sample of 102 polices. The sampling was done by simple random sampling system. The results showed that there are significant effect between abnormality of Pb level in blood police exposed to Pb with the use of masks, and there was significant effect between blood profile; Hb lavel with working period and Pb level in blood, PCV with working period and Pb level in blood, Eritrosit level with Pb level in blood. The other factors that were also researched such as age, height, weight, BMI, workload, working time, the use of masks, work history, and polices smoking behavior did not significantly affect abnormality blood profile and Pb level in blood in polices.The results also showed that there was no significant effect between blood profile with age, height, weight, BMI, workload, working time, the use of masks, work history, and workers smoking behavior. Conclusion: Based on the research result showed that there are significant effect between abnormality of Pb level in blood police exposed to Pb with the use of masks, and there was significant effect between blood profile; Hb lavel with working period and Pb level in blood, PCV with working period and Pb level in blood, Eritrosit level with Pb level in blood. The other factors that were also researched such as age, height, weight, BMI, workload, working time, the use of masks, work history, and polices smoking behavior did not significantly affect abnormality blood profile and Pb level in blood in polices.
