Abstract

This study examines the behaviors of Universitas Ciputra academic social with use of Facebook, a popular online social network site. In addition to assessing bonding and bridging social capital, researcher explores a dimension of social capital at Universitas Ciputra that assesses one's ability to access facebook with academic community. Focused Group Discussion with three types group (students, lectures, and staff) and analyses conducted on results suggest a strong association about academic social behaviors with use of Facebook such as access pattern, users responses, social segregation and socio demographics of users, with the strongest relationship being to bridging social capital. In addition, Facebook usage was found to interact with measures of psychological well-being, suggesting that it might provide how social behaviors of academic social capital for facebook users experiencing.
