Abstract

Major problem of public health in Indonesia is an infectious disease, Tuberculosis, that is caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. In Indonesia, the province with the second highest tuberculosis cases is in East Java, with the number of 41,472 cases followed by West Java with the number of 25,618 cases in 2012. The default rate in Sampang Kamoning’s health center in 2012 was high because patients are reluctant to take medication, so drug supervisors in taking medication (PMO) needs to be properly improved. The objective of this study was to analyze the role of the Drug Supervisors (PMO) that were assigned in the families of patients in compliance of patient of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs (OAT). The method used was a quantitative approach using the analytic approach by cross-sectional study design, in which the measurements of the independent and dependent variables were done by analyzing the role of Drug Supervisors (PMO), assigned in the families of patients in the compliance of Tuberculosis patients of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs. There were 42 sampels, who were chosen randomly. The results showed that the attitudes of the patients (p=0.014), the subjective norms (p=0.020), and the controlling perceptions (p=0.020) affected the intention to follow the instructions of the drug supervisory. Therefore, it is suggested that seminars for Drug Supervisors should be held to improve the obedience of patients in taking anti-tuberculosis medication in Kamoning’s Health Center in Sampang Dictrict.
