Abstract

Disease of leprosy till now still daunted by society, family of is including some officer of health. Disability which interfere appearance and function, with a negative public perception, it will cause a negative impact in mental health, especially is depression. This study aimed to analyze the factor that affect the quality of life of patient with leprosy in Kediri Leprosy Hospital. Methods: This was an analytic study with cross-sectional approach on patient with leprosy who visited in Kediri Leprosy Hospital using sistematic random sampling. Statistical analysis using a ANOVA. Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents with disability (73%), lack of family support of (50.8%), felt stigma (57%), very mild depression (34.9%), and the average of quality of life is 72.03 (95% CI : 68,95-75,11). Analysis of the anova showed that the varible is affect of quality of life is depression (ρ=0,008, α=0,05). Disability don’t affect the quality of life (ρ=0,116, α=0,05). Family support don’t affect the quality of life (ρ=0,202, α=0,05). Felt stigma don’t affect the quality of life (ρ=0,146, α=0,05). Conclusion: The majority of respondents had a disability, no family support, has felt stigma, depressed, and has a good quality of life. Variables that affect is depression. Recommendation for Kediri Leprosy Hospital to optimize counseling program for patient with leprosy so that the physical and mental problems experienced by patinet with leprosy can be minimized.
