Abstract
Health problem had occurred on preterm infants because of organ immaturity with the result extend of the long hospitalization. The objective of this research is to examine difference in length of stay of the kangaroo mother care with or without tactile stimulation on preterm infant. This research was quasi-experiment with posttest only of 24 preterm infant was selected by using consecutive sampling and that it devided into two groups. The experiment group kangaroo mother care for at least two hour with tactile stimulation was conducted for 15 minutes and control group kangaroo mother care without tactile stimulation. This study began by approved by ethical clearance number 403-KEPK of public health ethics committee of the Airlangga University. The result showed was average length of stay in preterm infants group with kangaroo mother care with tactile stimulation was 10,33 days, comparison with preterm infants in group with kangaroo mother care without tactile stimulation was 14,75 days with independent sample t test statistical significant (p=0.006) which means with kangaroo mother care with tactile stimulation on preterm infant shorter length of stay compared kangaroo mother care without tactile stimulation. The recommendation for mother who have preterm infants in hospital to apply the combination skin to skin contact kangaroo mother care and tactile stimulation in continuously.
