Abstract

Injection drug user became an important issue because this type of drug abuse can be the gateway of various disease transmission such as hepatitis and HIV - AIDS. Many of injection drug users did therapy, but in fact there are still users who return to use drug called recurrence or relapse. The aim of this study was to find out the relationship between the primary appraisal, secondary appraisal, social support and coping effort also the effort of injection drug users to recover theirself in Surabaya Orbit Foundation. This study used an observational study design because data collected without doing any treatment to the sample or object under study. This study is cross sectional study in which data collected only once or at a certain time without any repetition and any intervention. The sample of this research determined by simple random sampling. Information obtained through the questionnaire that read to the 34 respondents. The results showed the relationsip between social support and coping effort is significant with p = 0.000 and r = 0.590. Correlation between coping efforts and the effort of drug injection users to recover theirself in Surabaya orbit foundation is also significant with p=0,001 and r=0,546. It means there is a strong direct relation between coping effort and effort of injection drug users to recover theirself in Surabaya Orbit Foundation. While the primary and secondary appraisal with coping efforts are not related. The conclusion, there is no relationship between the primary and secondary appraisal with coping effort. While there is a direct relation between social supports and coping effort of drug injection users in Orbit Foundation Surabaya. Coping effort and effort of injection drug users to recover theirself in Surabaya Orbit Foundation also had a strong relationship.
