Abstract

Background: Prenatal class is one of governmant efforts to empower pregnant women to undertake antenalcare and Birth plans and prevention of complication. Antenatalcare and birth plans and prevention of complication is an effort to decrease maternal mortality. Neonatal and maternal mortality is still found in the ground level facilities . Antenatal care and birth plans and prevention of complication can either be done faster handling of emergency maternal and neonatal so maternal and child mortality can be decreased . Objective: to analyze the influence of prenatal class to antenatal care and the birth plans and prevention and complication. Methods: This study applied analytical survey with cohort research design. The number of samples taken was as many as 30 mothers, using simple random sampling . Analysis of data was carried out using ordinal wilcoxon sign rank test. Data were obtained from interviews, kuisioner, and Maternal and Child Health (MCH) books. Result: the prenatal class affect behaviour of antenatalcare and behaviour of birth plans and prevention of complication. The behaviour is consisted knowledge, attitude, and practice. From the statistic, prenatal class affect to the level knowledge of antenatalcare, attitude of antenatalcare, and practice of antenatalcare with p value 0.000 (<0.05). From the statistic, prenatal class affect to the level knowledge of birth plans, attitude of birth plans and prevention of complication, and practice of birth plans with p value 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion: Prentalclass can be effect to the knowledge of antenatal care, attitude of antenatalcare and practice of antenatalcare. Prenatalclass also can be effect to knowledge, attitude, and practice of birth plans and prevention of complication. Recomendation: Research suggestions to PHC can enhance the role of cadres to promote prenatal classes activities so that all pregnant women are able to know and follow the prenatal clasess activities and involve husband or family at least once in prenatal classes activities, especially related material about undertake antenalcare and the birth planning and prevention of complications so that the family can motivate mothers to imply undertake antenalcare and the birth planning and prevention of complications.
