Abstract

CV. Pasific Alam Makmur is one of medium size plastic recycling company in Gresik that processes the used plastic bottles into shredded plastics (flakes). The management needs to re-evaluate the company’s purchasing information system especially for supplier selection process and inventory information in order to become more effective and efficient for the company operations. Until now, it has not implemented an integrated information system for its purchasing process. During the activity is done manually and the information is not maintained properly. It makes the company experienced difficulties in analyzing the suppliers’ performance and determining the amount of raw materials available in warehouse which is important to make purchase decision. In accordance with the problems, this research applied qualitative exploratory at one case approach to design new Manufacturing Information System for its purchasing process that provides supplier analysis for supplier selection process and updated inventory information. The results of this research shows that by using Manufacturing Information System applied in its purchasing process, the company could analyze its suppliers’ performance and determine the amount of raw materials available in real-time basis. Then, it will benefit the company to make purchase decision and increase the company’s efficiencies and effectiveness.
