Abstract

The methanolic extracts of Zingiber aromaticum Val. (rhizoma) potently inhibit the gro\vth of Helicobacter pylori. In order to determine the extract that has the best activity inhibiting on the grovvth of Helicobacter pylori, the antibacterial activity test for n-heksane, chloroform and ethanol extracts of the rhizoma of Zingiber aromat;cum Val. has been done with agar dilution method at the concentration 7,5 mg/ml, 5 mg/ml, 2,5 mg/ml, 1,25 mg/ml and 0,625 mg/ml. Chloramfenicol was used as positive control. Prior to asessment, identification of Helicobacter pylori by urease, oxidase and catalase tests was done. The result sho\ved that all of the extracts did not inhibit the growth of isolate of Helicobacter p'vlori from Mataram.
