Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Candida Albicans (C.albicans) is a normal flora in the oral mucous membrane, is a blastophore form. In pathologycal condition, the spore will change to be hyphae and can penetrate to granulosum, it is trigerred by poor oral hygyene, xerostomia, dental applience or nutrition defisiensi. In older people, saliva secretion can decrease (xerostomia), and most of them are denture user. Purpose: The main of the research was observation on the decrease saliva secretion and oral candidosis appearence in the older people. This research were used older people as respondens, measured unstimulated whole saliva secretion, clinical and laboraties examination of the oral candidosis. The data presented by description and tabel. Result: The result of the research was 19 respondens which fullfil the criterias (8 male and 11 female), 11 respondens were xerostomia (1 male and 10 female). Four female respondens which experience xerostomia were denture users, on both clinical and laboratories examination were potisif chronic atrophic candidosis. Conclusion: The conclusion of the research was rather all of them female respondens experiense xerostomia, but not all of them suffered chronic atrophic candidosis.
