Abstract

The writer was very happy to do internship in formal school. Actually, it was the second chance for the writer to have teaching activity in formal situation after she did teaching practice at SDN Kertajaya V Surabaya. In this internship, the writer was more excited because she could teach in Islamic International School. The writer hoped that doing internship at International school was a better choice because she could improve her English knowledge and also increase the skill of English teaching. Besides, the writer also hoped that her personality would get better because she could gain her religion knowledge while doing internship there. Doing internship at SDI Al- Azhar 35 Surabaya, the writer had a lot of experiences and advantages. The writer learned about how to make teaching strategy to the students and also how to face the students who have different characteristics. Controlling the situation in the class was also one of the writer‟s duties. Besides teaching English, the writer had another job that was being a teacher assistant. As a teacher assistant, the writer should be ready to assist the teacher and sometimes also help the students during the lesson. During internship, the writer also had responsibility to participate in religion activities, such as accompanying students to pray dhuha and being a tahfidz tutor every morning. It made the writer learnt more about Islam. After the writer did her internship, she realized that being a teacher assistant was not as easy as she thought. Actually the responsibility was same as the teacher which was to make sure that the learning process would run as well as possible. The writer really hoped that her knowledge and experience that she got from her internship would be useful for her future. The writer recommended to her junior to do internship at Yayasan Pesantren Islam Al- Azhar Surabaya because this place would be suitable for students of English Diploma who want to improve their skills of teaching.
