Abstract
JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya is one of the hotel industries that use hospitality to attract its guests. Not only does JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya use hospitality to attract its guests, it also included in Marriott Inc. which already has many branches and trademarks in many countries. Therefore, it is why JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya also has a great integrity and high standard as an international five stars hotel. As an international five stars hotel, JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya has many facilities like any other international five stars hotels. One of them is the Executive Lounge. The writer had an opportunity to do his internship as an Executive Lounge Agent in JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya. The duties of an Executive Lounge Agent are important because Executive Lounge is a place where only selected guests can get access to, and most of the guests are VIP’s and long stay guest. It was really an amazing and challenging experience for the writer to be able to be an agent there. The writer learned a lot while he was doing his internship such as the culture of foreign guests, how to handle various guests with different personalities and hotel system management.The most important thing the writer has learned is the confidence in talking with foreign people. Having real working experience in international company really is an advantage for the writer. The writer also made many channels there to help him in the future. The writer was glad that he got accepted as an intern in JW Marriott Surabaya even though there were some uncomfortable things there. First is the period of the internship. Being an intern for six months is very tiresome, especially when the limit that the university gave for the internship was only three months. It made the writer had to carefully manage his time for doing his report, also doing his internship. Six months internship also reduces the writer’s time for his family and friends. The second thing that made the writer uncomfortable working there was the management. The management in JW Marriott Surabaya while the writer was working there for five months changed. So there were several rules that the writer and the staffs must get used to first. Besides its negativities, the writer was glad that he was accepted at JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya. Because JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya is a big international company, it will boost the writer’s career after this internship. Most corporations need employees who have degree and experience. Being an intern for six months in JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya will be an experience to be considered. The writer hopes that the management in JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya will be stable soon so the staffs and the trainees there will be comfortable working there. The writer also hopes that JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya will be more successful in the future. If the JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya became more successful, the writer who had intern there will also be more considered
