Abstract

There is child care institutions in Japan called group home. In this group home, child are nurture, care, and protected by creating a peaceful and comfortable environment. The number of children who are cared in group home are less than 10 people. In this group home, the children are not always find happiness. They also can get violent. This research discusses about the acts of violence committed by caregivers to children in a group home in Japan. In addition, authors also discussed about the acts of violence that occur among children in a group home. In this research, the authors used a Japanese drama titled 'Ashita, Mama ga Inai'. The methode used is qualitative method, since this research is descriptive research. To analyze the problem, author uses the theory of semiotics belong to Pierce. Analytical results from this study indicate that the violence perpetrated by caregivers to children are physical abuse and emotional abuse. While violence among children is fighting.
