Abstract

Introduction: When children were 6 months in age, they could not sufficient their nutrition only from breastfeeding, so they needed complementary feeding for maintaining their growth. The incorrect of behavior of the mother’s on giving complementary feeding and their ignorance about the benefits of complementary feeding affected of mother's attitude on giving complementary feeding might increase mortality in children. The purpose of this study was to explained the effect of sound slide media toward behavior of mothers on giving complementary feeding for children aged 6-8 months in Sawahan village of Malang in 2016. Methods: This study used a quasy experimental. The research population was 40 mothers who had children aged 6-8 months in the Sawahan village, Malang. The method of sampling used in this study was using a purposive sampling. The amount of samples were 36 respondents and the instrument that used to collect the data were SAP (units of educational events), SOP how to make complementary feeding and questionnaire which consisted of closed-ended question by choosing the correct answer . Results: The result of mother's behavior after being given education with a sound slide media showed increase behavior of mothers on giving complementary feeding for children age 6-8 months Discussion: This study shows that sound slide media used to increase behavior mothers on giving complementary feeding in children aged 6-8 months because sound slide media could increase understanding, effective and gave interested to people.
