Abstract

Introduction. Breast milk is the perfect food and the best for the baby. Mother who have given other food besides breastfeeding before the age of 6 months, then the nutritional content in breastmilk could not optimal. The data found in Kelurahan Kebraon Surabaya of infants at 0-6 months as many (16%) 11 infants suffered malnutrition status based on weight / length. The aim of this study was to identify the correlation between breastfeeding behaviour and nutritional status of infants at 0-6 months. Method. This study design used cross-sectional with quantitative approach. Samples were taken used purposive sampling and obtained 15 mothers of infants 0-6 months in Puskesmas Kedurus. Data were collected through questionnaires and observation sheets. Data analyzed using Spearman's Rho test with significance level of 0.05. Results. Result showed that there are significant correlation between knowledge (p= 0.004) and attitude (p= 0.000) in breast-feeding mothers with the nutritional status of infants at 0-6 months. There are no correlation between action (p= 0.462) in breast-feeding mothers with the nutritional status of infants at 0-6 months. Discussion and conclusion. The right maternal breastfeeding behaviour make into a good nutritional status of infants at 0-6 months. Mothe are expected to give breastfed exclusively to optimalized growth and development of infants at 0-6 months.
