Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a medical condition that occurs in menstrual period. It can interfere activities and require treatment. Several methods are used to surmount dysmenorrhe such as pharmalogical and non-pharmalogical including warm compress and guided imagery therapy. This study aimed to explain the influence of warm compress and guided imagery therapy on dysmenorrhea pain. The design of this study was quasy experimental with 26 sample size of girl students, 13 respondents as the treatment group were treated with compress and guided imagery therapy and 13 respondents as the control group were treated with warm compress. Data were taken using the questionnaire then analyzed with Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test dan Mann Whitney Test (α≤0,05). The result of Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test showed a strong signification on treatment group (p= 0,0001) and control group (p=0,025). The differentiation of treatment group and control group had a significant value (p=0,011) in Mann Whitney Test. It can be concluded that there is influence of warm compress and guided imagery therapy on dysmenorrhea pain. Therefore, girl students who experince dysmenorrhea can use warm compress and guided imagery therapy and the further research can use two kind of treatments to require dysmenorrhea pain.
