Abstract

In this world, there are some condition that divide into two opposition. Like dark and light, dawn and night, young and old. In the other hand, there are two another opposition about social life. There are about rich and poor. The rich one because they have a lot of money, they have power. Beside that, the poor one need to work hard in order to get the same position like the rich. This kind of social issue is becoming as the usual in our life, because two of them are living together. It is also usual showed in movie as the part of life. Beside the other film, there is a film that showed this with different feel. It called as Upside Down. From this film, the writer want to analyse the representation of rich and poor people which live in different side of world. Also, the writer will analyse how the struggle of poor people in order to feel the same position with the rich one. For this research, writer will use qualitative research approach and use narrative and non narrative as the methodology. For the theory, writer will use Marxist by Karl Marx as the basic. In Marxist, Marx divide the social life as bourgeoisie and proletariat. According to Marx, social class is a relation between people mediated by their relation to the means of production. From this film, we can see that everyone can change their social class. But in the case of proletariat, they can successfully survive and change their life better with the help from bourgeoisie.
