Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of eggplant (Solanum melongena L) powder on serum level Glutamate Pyruvate Transaminase (SGPT) and Glutamate Oxaloacetate Transaminase (SGOT) of rat (Rattus norvegicus) that was given high fatty diet. This study used 3 months old Rattus weight of 150 – 200 grams. The white rats were divided into 4 treatments. K- was given standart feed and ad libitum aquadest. K+ was given 1 ml of high fatty diet orally for 35 days. For group P1 and P2 were treatment group which was given 1 ml of high fatty diet orally for 35 days and eggplant powder with each doses of 18 grams and 36 grams per 100 ml given 1 ml orally on day 28th to 35th. After 35 days, each group was observed serum level GPT and GOT. The result of statistical analysis using Tukey HSD test showed significant result among treatment group. Both P1 and P2 that was given eggplans powder reduce the level SGPT and SGOT, but the best result was on P2 that made the level of SGPT and SGOT on normal range level.
