Abstract

This research aimed to get information about the value of erythrocytes and hematocrit of long-tailed monkeys who had infection with OPV2 vaccine and WHO references poliovirus, as well as comparing the effects of OPV2 vaccine and WHO references poliovirus are changing the value of the parameters. The monkeys adapted during the 4-5 days in Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory. The infection is carried out on the 6th day and conducted observation for 21 days. Blood samples were taken on 6th and 22th day. Blood samples were analyzed using hematology analyzer. The result who that the value of erythrocytes increased significally about 4,38% (OPV2 vaccine) and 9,21% (WHO reference poliovirus) compared to before treatment. The result who that the value of hematocrit increased significally about 0,55% (OPV2 vaccine) and 0,60% (WHO reference poliovirus) compared to before treatment But the increase in these two parameters are still within the limits of normal hematology of long-tailed monkey. OPV2 vaccine and WHO reference poliovirus has the same effect and increase the value of the parameters.
