Abstract

This study was conducted to determine effect of purslane ethanol extracts (Portulaca oleracea L.) in total cholesterol levels in rats given high fat diet. Twenty rats were divided into four treatment groups. The control group (K) was given high fat diet, P1 group was given high fat diet and purslane ethanol extract dose 54 mg/ rats, P2 group was high fat diet and extract ethanol purslane dose 108 mg/ rats, P3 group was given high fat diet and purslane ethanol extract dose 216 mg/ rats. The treatment was during 56 days. Then blood sample on experimental was drawn through intracardiac, rats were anasthezied by eter. The sample of total cholesterol levels was analyzed using ANOVA ONE WAY and then continued DUNCAN test. Based on the result it can concluded that given purslane ethanol extract (Portulaca oleracea L) dose 54 mg/ rats after high fat diet it does given effect to decrease of the total cholesterol levels in rat.
